Rudy Giuliani’s Daughter Caroline Endorses Kamala Harris

The daughter of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president, saying her father’s life “crumbled” because of his association with former President Donald Trump.
Writing in Vanity Fair, Caroline Rose Giuliani said Monday that she had first-hand experience of what it was like to be associated with Trump.
“Not to disregard individual accountability in the slightest, but it would be naive for us to ignore the fact that many of those closest to Trump have descended into catastrophic downward spirals,” Caroline Giuliani wrote. “If we let Trump back into the driver’s seat this fall, our country will be no exception.”
She said that many people appeared to have forgotten “what that chaos felt like” when referring to Trump’s first term in office.
Her father became one of Trump’s lawyers in 2018 after advising him during his presidential campaign in 2016.
The former mayor became entangled in the legal battles that followed the 2020 election, where Trump made claims of election fraud. Rudy Giuliani also spoke at the rally on January 6, 2021, and he was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the election.
“Nothing I have experienced prepared me for the very public and relentless implosion of my father’s life,” his daughter wrote, saying she had overcome an eating disorder and worked through mental health issues.
“After months of feeling the type of sorrow that comes from the death of a loved one, it dawned on me that I’ve been grieving the loss of my dad to Trump. I cannot bear to lose our country to him too,” she added.
Despite her concerns over her father’s downfall, which has included him being disbarred in New York and Washington, D.C., Giuliana said she still deeply cared about her father and that was what was pushing her to write the column.
As she openly endorsed the current vice president, Caroline Giuliani said Harris was the safest choice for the country since Trump would enter office with “no checks on his power whatsoever” following the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity earlier this year.
She said Harris would deliver for women across America, calling out her record on fighting for reproductive rights and Trump’s flip-flopping on the issue, as well as claiming the vice president would be stronger on climate change.
“Take it from me, Trump destroys everything he touches. I saw it happen to my family. Don’t let it happen to yours, or to our country,” she added.
Newsweek reached out to the Trump and Harris campaigns for comment via email Monday afternoon.
